Every translation available in Bible Passport — local and international alike — is delivered through API.Bible, a service of the American Bible Society that provides licensed access to Scripture text from its publishers.
API.Bible does not own the translations it distributes; each one remains the property of its own publisher, under its own licence terms. Because of this:
As required by the licence terms attached to certain translations, Bible Passport reports chapter deliveries back to API.Bible. This reporting is how publishers are able to make their translations freely available to apps like this one, and it does not include any personal information about you — see our Privacy Policy for details.
To let you keep reading without a connection, chapters you open are cached locally on your device. This caching is done within the terms API.Bible's licences permit, and does not change who holds copyright over the text.
Bible Passport is an independent app built on top of the API.Bible platform. We are not API.Bible, the American Bible Society, or any Bible publisher, and this page is not a substitute for API.Bible's own terms, which govern our use of their service.
If you'd like to know more about the licence terms for a translation you're reading, the in-app chapter footer and the API.Bible site are the authoritative sources. You're also welcome to contact us with questions.
